Club Náutico

Club Náutico is a sailing facility in Playa featuring a distinctive design with vaulted sections, blue arches, and white columns topped with skylights. The covered spaces and open areas accommodate various activities related to maritime sports and gatherings.

The clubhouse was founded in 1906 and underwent major expansion in 1936 under new management. A comprehensive renovation in 1953 established the architectural form visitors see today.

The clubhouse serves as a gathering place for the sailing community to hold races and social events. It reflects the maritime traditions that remain important to this coastal neighborhood.

The facility is located near 5ta Avenida and accessible by public transportation. Verify in advance whether membership is required, as entry and participation in activities have specific restrictions.

Architect Max Borges Recio designed the 1953 renovation using catenary arch techniques similar to those he employed at the Tropicana nightclub. The polished concrete floors and distinctive arches reflect this architectural connection.
