East Lombok

East Lombok Regency extends over 1,605 square kilometers on the eastern third of Lombok island, with elevations ranging from sea level to 479 meters.

The regency emerged from larger administrative divisions and developed its current boundaries through systematic reorganization of Indonesian territorial management systems.

The Sasak people form the primary population of East Lombok, maintaining their traditions through music, dance performances, and regular agricultural celebration festivals.

Twenty districts comprise East Lombok Regency, with 239 rural villages and 15 urban areas connected by local transportation networks to the capital city Selong.

Mount Rinjani stands at 3,726 meters in the northern section of the regency, creating distinct agricultural zones for rice, tobacco, and tropical fruit cultivation.
