The Bear Brothers construction company developed the apartment complex in 1947 to accommodate the influx of soldiers returning from World War II.
The residential complex initially attracted numerous professionals, including doctors and lawyers, who made it their residence in the post-war period.
The property at 559 South Court Street underwent new ownership in 2021, with plans to transform the abandoned structure into modern residential units.
The architectural design earned national recognition in magazines and secured architect Clyde Pearson membership in the American Institute of Architects.
