Manzana de Gómez

Manzana de Gómez is a five-story building that occupies an entire city block in Old Havana and features two diagonal pedestrian corridors crossing in an X-shape. The ground floor hosts international luxury brands, while the upper levels contain 246 rooms and 50 suites.

The building opened in 1917 as Cuba's first shopping center and shaped the city's commercial development. After extensive renovations, it reopened in 2017 as the Gran Hotel Manzana Kempinski with a new purpose.

The building blends European architecture with Cuban tastes through carved stone, marble stairs, and ornate details that reflect the city's early 20th century prosperity. Walking through its spaces, you see how local craftspeople adapted foreign styles to create something distinctly Havannan.

The building is easily accessible from Old Havana's streets, and the X-shaped corridors provide convenient pedestrian routes connecting different sides. The walkways are well-lit and clearly laid out, making it simple to navigate through the multi-story complex.

The building's foundations incorporate sections of Havana's original city walls from earlier centuries. These hidden remnants directly connect modern luxury architecture with the city's colonial past.
