Alcázar de Colón, Museum in Colonial City of Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic.

The Alcázar de Colón stands in coral limestone at Plaza de España, featuring Gothic and Renaissance architectural elements across its remaining 22 rooms.

Diego Columbus, son of Christopher Columbus, built this residence between 1510 and 1514 as the first fortified European palace in the Americas.

The museum contains an extensive collection of European late medieval and Renaissance art, including tapestries from the Flemish Van Den Hecke family.

The museum opens Tuesday through Saturday from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM and Sunday from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM, with entrance tickets costing 100 Dominican pesos.

The palace witnessed the birth of four Columbus children and served as the residence for three generations of the Columbus family in the New World.
