Constitution Convention Museum State Park

The Constitution Convention Museum is a history museum in Port St. Joe set across 14 acres featuring objects and displays about nineteenth-century Florida life. The collection includes a model Baldwin steam locomotive and various artifacts documenting the region's early commerce and technology.

The museum documents the 1838 convention when 56 territorial delegates gathered to draft Florida's first constitution. This assembly was a crucial step toward statehood, which was achieved in 1845.

The exhibits display items from Seminole peoples and early Spanish objects that reflect the different cultures shaping Florida's past. Visitors can observe how these cultures influenced daily life among the region's first inhabitants.

The site is open Thursday through Monday and offers visitors access to indoor exhibits. Entry is affordable and the grounds are easy to explore, suitable for a half-day visit.

The museum houses life-sized animated figures that recreate the convention discussions. These interactive displays help visitors understand the political debates of that era.
