Fort Myers Beach

Fort Myers Beach is a coastal town on Estero Island featuring sandy shores, a historic pier, and a mix of homes and shops. The island is bordered by waterways and natural areas that define its layout.

The area was first home to the Calusa Indians and later became a fishing settlement before American settlers arrived in the 1800s. These different phases of occupation shaped the landscape and character we see today.

The Shrimp Festival in March and Taste of the Beach in May draw the community together to celebrate local seafood and coastal traditions. These gatherings reveal how fishing and ocean life shape the identity of this place.

The island's bus network connects different areas and makes it easy to reach beaches and local shops without a car. Parking areas are available near beach accesses and the main pier.

After Hurricane Ian in 2022, the town underwent reconstruction that revealed the community's resilience. Many buildings were reinforced and infrastructure modernized to better handle future storms.
