Tampa Bay Buccaneers, NFL team in Tampa, United States
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are a professional American football team in Tampa, Florida, competing in the National Football League. They play home games at Raymond James Stadium, which seats around 65,000 people and features a replica pirate ship in the north end zone.
Founded in 1974, the team lost 26 consecutive games over their first two seasons before earning their first win in week 13 of 1977. Over the following decades, they faced ups and downs until capturing their first Super Bowl title in 2003.
Fans chant for cannon fire after every touchdown, and real cannons on the pirate ship blast across the field. Supporters wear pirate costumes and wave flags, turning each home game into a lively celebration with coordinated chants and hand gestures.
The stadium sits right off Interstate 275, so parking areas surround the venue in several large lots. On game days, public transport and shuttles run from downtown and nearby neighborhoods, making access easier for those without cars.
In February 2021, they became the first team to win a Super Bowl in their own stadium. It was also the first time any club had even competed in a championship game on their home field.
