Seminole Heights Residential District

Seminole Heights Residential District is a residential area in Tampa with over 300 historic buildings set along tree-lined streets. The homes date from the early 20th century and display various architectural styles typical of that era.

The neighborhood developed between 1912 and 1928 as a residential area for the growing city. Its historical importance led to listing on the National Register of Historic Places in 1993.

The Methodist church and school buildings feature Gothic elements, while Craftsman bungalows shape the residential character throughout. Walking through the streets, you notice how these older homes still reflect how people lived together in a close-knit early 20th-century community.

The neighborhood is easy to explore since the homes are arranged in a connected area bounded by four main streets. You can best discover the different architectural styles by walking or driving slowly through the district.

Beyond the nationally registered buildings, local designation protects additional structures including a special cluster of homes in a separate section. This expanded protection shows how the community values preserving the entire neighborhood.
