El Pasaje

El Pasaje is a two-story brick building at the intersection of 14th Street and East 9th Avenue, featuring a ground-level open arcade that extends along its facade. Its Renaissance-inspired design combines industrial solidity with decorative architectural details.

The structure was constructed in 1886 at the request of Vicente Martinez Ybor, the founder of this neighborhood. It initially operated as a hotel and became a gathering space for military officers, playing a significant role in local affairs during that era.

The Cherokee Club inside served as a hub where business owners and political figures gathered to conduct affairs and discuss matters of importance. Visitors can sense how central this space was to the city's commercial and civic life.
