Tampa Heights Historic District

Tampa Heights Historic District is a residential neighborhood with roughly 290 historic buildings spread across multiple blocks bounded by four main streets. The homes range from modest bungalows to more elaborate Mediterranean-style designs.

The neighborhood emerged in the late 1800s as one of Tampa's first residential areas beyond the downtown core. It gained protection through the National Register of Historic Places in 1995.

The homes display Mediterranean Revival and Mission Revival architectural styles that shaped the early 20th century. These buildings reflect how residents lived and what they valued during Tampa's growth as a city.

The neighborhood is easy to explore on foot since homes are closely spaced and streets follow a regular grid. Wear comfortable shoes and allow time for a leisurely walk to notice the details on the buildings.

Inside the district stands a school that was the first brick school building constructed in the county. This structure marks an early phase of local school development and stands apart from the homes surrounding it.
