Indian Creek, Residential village in Miami-Dade County, United States.
Indian Creek is a residential village on a barrier island in Biscayne Bay with 41 waterfront properties spread across its narrow shape. The community sits surrounded by a canal and protected by seawalls along its perimeter.
Crews drained mangrove swamps in the early 1900s to create the island from the bay floor. The community incorporated as a village in 1939 with 17 founding residents.
The country club has offered golf and social facilities since 1929, forming the center of daily life for the few households. Members gather regularly in the clubhouse and on the course that runs through much of the island.
Entry to the island requires crossing a guarded bridge from Surfside, where officers check all vehicles at a security gate. Visitors must have an invitation from residents to pass through.
Twenty-nine estates line the shores behind vertical seawalls, while the surrounding canal reaches about 9 feet (2.7 meters) in depth. The open water separates the few homes from the mainland and reinforces the secluded character of the community.
