The white building has a stepped, blocky form with a flat roof and thin railing; raised letters reading "FAENA" and "SAXONY" sit on the upper facade above tiers of projecting balconies. A narrow vertical green panel runs down the left front, and wide window bands fill the lower section.

The hotel opened in 2015 as part of the larger Faena District project covering eight blocks. Alan Faena brought his successful design concept from Buenos Aires, where he had previously transformed an old waterfront area into a vibrant cultural neighborhood.

The hotel carries the name of its Argentine founder Alan Faena, who brought his design concept from Buenos Aires to Miami Beach. Rooms and public spaces blend 1920s aesthetics with South American artistic influences, creating an environment where visitors encounter a specific design philosophy at every turn.
