Architect Joseph Urban designed the building in 1926 as a multifunctional venue for Palm Beach's prosperous population. The cinema symbolized the prosperity of the 1920s and later became a church before recent ownership changes brought restoration plans.
Joseph Urban gave the Paramount simple lines and a cool palette of silver and green, which he called "simple, spacious, Southern" and part of the rhythm of the community rather than an escape from it. The building now houses Paramount Church, a non-denominational Christian congregation founded by Rev. Dwight Stevens.
