Robert Bruce Barbour House
Robert Bruce Barbour House, National Register of Historic Places residence in Winter Park, Florida.
The Robert Bruce Barbour House, also known as Casa Feliz, is a Spanish farmhouse in Winter Park, Florida, distinguished by large public rooms connected by an arched loggia. Interior courtyards adorned with majolica tiles and decorative fountains enhance the flowing spaces throughout the residence.
Built between 1932 and 1933 in Spanish colonial style, this residence was commissioned by Robert Bruce Barbour, an owner in the chemical dye manufacturing industry. In 2000, the structure was relocated to preserve it when threatened by development.
The house earned its name Casa Feliz in the 1960s when the Barbour family regularly hosted community gatherings and celebrations here. This tradition continues to shape how neighbors understand and remember this property.
The residence is easily accessible to visitors interested in exploring its architecture and interior design. The connected spaces flow naturally together, making it simple to navigate through the different rooms and outdoor areas.
The interior features a circular staircase and multiple doorways that create unexpected connections between indoor spaces and both a garden and courtyard. This thoughtful design allows natural light and air to move freely throughout the residence.
