Ebenezer Missionary Baptist Church, Baptist church in Auburn, Alabama

Ebenezer Missionary Baptist Church is a log building on Thach Street at Auburn Drive South in Auburn, Alabama, put up around 1870 from hand-hewn logs hauled in by mule from miles away. The congregation used it until 1969; the Auburn Heritage Association restored it in 1970, and it now houses the Auburn Unitarian Universalist Fellowship.

This was the first African American religious building constructed in the Auburn area after the Civil War ended in 1865, founded by a newly freed community. Its creation marked the beginning of organized religious life for African Americans in the region.

This structure stands as a reminder of how African American families worked together to build something sacred and permanent for themselves after the Civil War. It shows the commitment of the community to create their own worship space rather than rely on others.

The building stands at the corner of Thach Street and Auburn Drive South in Auburn. It is no longer a Baptist church: since 1970 it has housed the Auburn Unitarian Universalist Fellowship, so visits depend on that congregation's meeting times rather than a Baptist schedule.

The congregation completed the hand-hewn log building around 1870, and it served Ebenezer Baptist until 1969. The Auburn Heritage Association restored it in 1970, and it now houses the Auburn Unitarian Universalist Fellowship. The National Register listing followed on May 21, 1975.
