Georgia's 6th congressional district, Congressional district in northern Atlanta suburbs, United States.
Georgia's 6th congressional district is a voting area for the House of Representatives that covers several counties north of Atlanta. It extends through Forsyth, Dawson, portions of Cobb, northern Fulton, western Gwinnett, and eastern Cherokee.
The boundaries moved to Atlanta's northern suburbs in 1992, shifting away from their earlier position in the southern and western territories. This reorganization brought a new geographic focus for representation in the House.
Within the district boundaries, residents participate in local government initiatives through numerous community centers, parks, and educational programs.
Representative Rich McCormick maintains offices across the district where residents can arrange meetings to discuss federal matters and community concerns. The offices serve as contact points for anyone who needs help with government inquiries or information about legislative work.
The 2017 special election drew national attention and became the most expensive House race in United States history up to that point. The campaign attracted exceptional spending levels from both parties.
