H&H Restaurant, Soul food restaurant in Macon, Georgia, US.

H&H Restaurant is a soul food spot on Forsyth Street in downtown Macon, Georgia, serving traditional Southern dishes like fried chicken, collard greens, and hearty breakfasts. The space is simply furnished and decorated with photos and objects that line the walls.

The restaurant was opened in 1959 by Inez Hill and Louise Hudson as a neighborhood gathering place in Macon. Over the following decades it became a meeting point for musicians and civil rights activists looking for community during a difficult period in the South.

The dining room walls are covered with photos and objects linked to the Allman Brothers Band, who spent years eating here. That connection to local music is still felt today and draws visitors who come as much for the stories as for the food.

The restaurant sits in central downtown Macon and is easy to reach on foot from nearby hotels and attractions. Coming early is a good idea, especially for breakfast, as the tables tend to fill up fast.

Mama Louise Hudson, one of the founders, was known for offering free meals to musicians going through hard times. That habit of quiet generosity created lasting bonds with artists who kept coming back for years.
