Herty Field, also called Alumni Athletic Field, is a rectangular greenspace on the University of Georgia campus in Athens, laid out with lawns and crossing walkways where the original football, baseball and track venue stood. It opened in fall 1891 after chemistry professor Charles Herty had the former marching ground landscaped for varsity and intramural play.

The field hosted Georgia's first intercollegiate football game in 1892 when the university played against Mercer College. Later it became a parking lot in the 1940s before returning to a green space for students in 1999.

Named after chemistry professor Charles Holmes Herty, the field represents how collegiate athletics developed in Georgia. Today it serves as a gathering place where students connect with the university's athletic history.

The field sits on the University of Georgia campus in Athens, on the site bounded by campus buildings near the corner of the historic north campus. It is open ground with no stands or fences, so walkers cross it between classes. The 1999 conversion back to greenspace left it as level lawn rather than a marked pitch.

Before games, the field was a campus marching ground. Chemistry professor Charles Herty, who created UGA's varsity football and baseball teams, landscaped it for play, and in 1897 raised $1,900 from alumni for further landscaping and bleachers.
