The coliseum opened on February 22, 1964, replacing Woodruff Hall and marking a substantial upgrade from the previous 3,000-seat facility built in 1923.
The facility serves as home court for University of Georgia Bulldogs basketball and gymnastics teams, hosting numerous collegiate competitions throughout the year.
The arena underwent modernization with new cushioned seats, updated restrooms, concession areas, and the addition of LED ribbon boards and scoreboard systems.
The building incorporates a separate roof structure connected by aluminum bellows that adjusts to temperature changes, demonstrating advanced engineering for its time.
