The 40 Watt Club features a main concert hall with a capacity of several hundred people, a professional sound system, and a dedicated performance stage.
The venue originated in 1979 from a single 40-watt light bulb in Curtis Crowe's loft before moving through various locations to its current spot in 1991.
As a cornerstone of Athens music scene, this venue helped launch careers of numerous bands including R.E.M., The B-52's, and Pylon during the 1980s.
Located at 285 West Washington Street, the club opens its doors at 7:00 PM for most shows, with tickets available both in advance and at entrance.
