Darby Plantation

Darby Plantation is a Greek Revival house in Edgefield County. The building features a wraparound porch supported by twelve columns and interior rooms with high ceilings and spacious dimensions.

The house was built for Anne Patience Griffith upon her marriage to Milledge Luke Bonham. During the Civil War, it served as storage space for artifacts from the Charleston Museum.

The house displays the architectural preferences of wealthy Southern landowners during the 19th century. Its detailed design choices show how prosperous families of that era thought about their homes and status.

The property is located in Trenton, South Carolina, and has been registered as a National Register of Historic Places since 1974. Visitors should check in advance whether the house is open for tours, as it remains a privately owned building.
