Sesquicentennial State Park

Sesquicentennial State Park is a nature preserve in South Carolina's Sandhills region offering a 30-acre lake, hiking paths, and mountain biking trails across woodland terrain. The grounds feature campsites, picnic areas, and water recreation along with roughly 12 miles of marked routes for outdoor activities.

The park was established in 1937 to mark Columbia's 150th anniversary, with the Civilian Conservation Corps constructing its stone entrance and main buildings. This construction work shaped the physical layout that visitors see today.

The park serves as an educational center where rangers conduct nature programs throughout the year to teach visitors about local flora, fauna, and ecological systems.

The site offers 84 campsites, three picnic shelters, boat rentals on the lake, and trails ranging from easy to challenging. Bring water, sun protection, and sturdy footwear, especially for longer hikes or mountain biking.

The park features a splash pad with 26 water sprayers, the only one of its kind among South Carolina state parks. This water area draws families on hot days seeking relief and recreation.
