Sesquicentennial State Park encompasses 1,419 acres of natural terrain with a 30-acre lake, hiking paths, and mountain biking trails in South Carolina's Sandhills region.
The park opened in 1937 following Columbia's 150th anniversary celebration, with the Civilian Conservation Corps constructing the stone entrance and primary buildings.
The park serves as an educational center where rangers conduct nature programs throughout the year to teach visitors about local flora, fauna, and ecological systems.
Visitors can access 84 campsites, three picnic shelters, boat rentals for the lake, and 12 miles of trails that accommodate different skill levels.
The park features a specialized splash pad with 26 water sprayers, making it the only state park in South Carolina with this type of water recreation facility.
