The statue resided in the National Statuary Hall Collection at the United States Capitol from 1931 until 2009 when it returned to California.
This memorial represents Thomas Starr King's role as a minister who delivered speeches supporting the Union during the American Civil War.
Visitors can locate the statue within the Civil War Memorial Grove section of Capitol Park near the California State Capitol building.
The California Legislature replaced this statue with one of Ronald Reagan in Washington DC because many residents did not know Thomas Starr King.
