Salt Point State Park

Salt Point State Park spans 6000 acres of coastal terrain, featuring sandstone cliffs, marine terraces, and native California vegetation along the Pacific shore.

Native Americans from Kashaya Pomo tribes gathered food and harvested salt from the sea spray on coastal rocks until the 1800s.

The sandstone quarried from this park during the 1800s contributed to the construction of buildings in San Francisco's streets.

The park maintains 20 miles of hiking trails, 6 miles of coastline access, and includes facilities for camping, diving, and fishing activities.

The underwater park features unusual sandstone formations with deep pockets created by sea water, providing habitat for abalone and sea stars.
