Peralta Adobe, Adobe building in San Jose, California
The Peralta Adobe features walls two feet thick constructed from adobe blocks measuring 22 inches by 11 inches by 4 inches.
Built in 1797 by José Manuel Gonzeles, the structure became the residence of Luis María Peralta, who acquired the property in 1808.
The adobe represents early California architectural methods and stands as the last remaining structure from the Pueblo de San Jose de Guadalupe.
Located at 184 West Saint John Street in San Jose, visitors can explore the historic house museum through scheduled guided tours.
The building contains two equal-sized connecting rooms spanning 20 feet by 41 feet, with period furnishings from 200 years ago.
