Fairmont Plaza, Postmodern skyscraper in downtown San Jose, United States
The Fairmont Plaza reaches a height of 79.55 meters with its 17 floors and features a geometric exterior design showcasing glass and concrete materials.
Upon its completion in 1988, the structure designed by Skidmore Owings Merrill stood as the highest building in San Jose, maintaining this status until new developments emerged.
The building occupies the former location of Market Street Chinatown, a central point for Chinese American community from 1866 to 1887 in Santa Clara Valley.
The structure contains six elevators and provides 326,000 square feet of office space, serving multiple commercial enterprises in the heart of Silicon Valley.
Knight Ridder, a major newspaper publishing company, selected this building as their headquarters in 1998, marking its role in media industry evolution.
