St. John's Chapel, Episcopal chapel in Monterey, California, US

St. John's Chapel is a Late Victorian Shingle Style Episcopal church in Monterey, California, built in a traditional cross shape as a single-story structure of 2,329 square feet. Its English cottage look comes from architect Ernest Coxhead's design, with a 110-foot steeple and bell tower. A narthex and a twenty-foot extension to the west end of the nave were added after the building was moved in 1957.

St. John's Chapel was founded in 1891 for guests of the Hotel Del Monte, on land donated by railroad tycoon Charles Crocker. Suffragan bishop William Ford Nichols dedicated it on June 14, 1891. In 1957 the chapel was moved 560 ft to Mark Thomas Drive for a planned state highway; a narthex and twenty feet of nave were then added, designed by architect Robert Stanton. It joined the National Register of Historic Places on October 21, 2020.

St. John's Chapel was built for guests of the Hotel Del Monte, and after the Naval Postgraduate School took over the former hotel, naval and other military personnel, locals and visitors have formed its memberships. Movie stars were married here, including Brian Aherne and Joan Fontaine in 1939 and Brooke Shields and Andre Agassi in 1997.

St. John's Chapel stands at 564 Mark Thomas Drive in Monterey, near the Naval Postgraduate School campus that occupies the former Hotel Del Monte. The building is single-story and entered through a narthex and memorial vestibule added after its 1957 relocation; the granite stairs lead up to the front porch. Visitors approach on foot from Mark Thomas Drive.

St. John's Chapel was moved 560 ft (170 m) in 1957 to make way for a planned state highway; the move added twenty feet to the west end of the nave and a narthex designed by architect Robert Stanton. The 110-foot steeple and bell tower mark the building on Mark Thomas Drive.
