Napa Valley Opera House

The Renaissance Revival structure spans two levels, with the main theater featuring stained glass skylights, brass chandeliers, and curved staircases leading to balcony seating.

The building opened its doors in February 1880 with Gilbert and Sullivan's HMS Pinafore performance and operated until 1914 when earthquake damage forced its closure.

Notable performers at the venue included soprano Luisa Tetrazzini and author Jack London, who presented readings from his literary works in the early 1900s.

The facility houses both the 200-seat Cafe Theatre and a larger upstairs venue, equipped with modern lighting systems and an orchestra pit for 40 musicians.

The original auditorium floor incorporated specific design elements for local dances and pageants, including a specially made curtain displaying advertisements from local businesses.
