Cottage Grove

Cottage Grove is a city in Lane County, Oregon, situated in the southern Willamette Valley where the Row River and Coast Fork Willamette River meet. The town center contains local shops and services, with rural landscapes and waterways surrounding the community.

The town's name comes from a post office established in 1855 surrounded by oak trees, which relocated several times before the city incorporated in 1887. Mining activity in the nearby Bohemia Mountains drove early growth and settlement in the area.

The July Bohemia Mining Days festival brings together residents and visitors to celebrate local mining heritage through performances and exhibits.

The town has two golf courses and extensive trail networks along the rivers for outdoor recreation. These facilities are accessible from the main town area, making outdoor activities easy to reach.

The Chambers Railroad Bridge is the only surviving covered railroad bridge west of the Mississippi River, beautifully restored and standing as a remarkable piece of engineering. The bridge attracts visitors interested in railroad history and historic construction techniques.
