Cascades Raptor Center, Wildlife rehabilitation center in Eugene, Oregon.
The Cascades Raptor Center is a rehabilitation facility for birds of prey located near Spencer's Butte in southwest Eugene, Oregon. The site hosts around forty education birds that live there year-round, while the hospital section treats between four hundred and seven hundred injured raptors each year.
The center began in 1987 and became an official organization three years later before moving to its current location in 1994. It grew from a small operation into the largest raptor hospital in the Pacific Northwest.
The facility stands on the traditional lands of the Kalapuya people, who shaped the Willamette Valley's biodiversity before their forced relocation in the 1850s.
The wildlife hospital operates daily from eight in the morning until six in the evening and accepts injured raptors from across Oregon. The outdoor enclosures housing the education birds are accessible via easy walking paths that wind through forested grounds.
Two rehabilitation specialists work alongside a team of seven veterinarians who specialize in bird medicine and surgical procedures. The combined professional experience of the rehabilitation team exceeds forty-five years, ensuring continuity in specialized treatment techniques.
