The Jensen Arctic Museum contained over 5,000 artifacts including native tools, traditional clothing, animal specimens, and a large research library about polar regions.
Paul Jensen established the museum in 1985 at Western Oregon State College, following his experiences with Inuit communities and extensive research in Alaska.
The collection featured a 27-foot umiak boat made from driftwood and walrus skin, donated by inhabitants of Saint Lawrence Island in the Bering Sea.
The museum operated educational programs for students, offering guided tours and lectures about Arctic wildlife, native communities, and environmental changes.
From 1966 to 1979, the museum founder created exchange programs allowing Inuit and Eskimo children from Alaska to experience life in Oregon.
