Hoyt Arboretum, Arboretum in Washington Park, Portland, United States.
The 189-acre Hoyt Arboretum contains 12 miles of trails extending across wooded ridges, displaying over 2,300 species of trees and plants from six continents.
Founded in 1928 after Multnomah County sold the fire-damaged land to Portland, the arboretum was designed by parks superintendent John W Duncan with locations for forty tree families.
The arboretum maintains collections of national importance, including extensive magnolia, maple, and conifer groups, serving as a center for botanical research and education.
Visitors can access free trail maps and educational resources at the Visitor Center, which operates daily from 10 AM to 4 PM and includes a research library.
The arboretum houses the Dawn Redwood, Oregon's state fossil, near the intersection of Wildwood and Spruce trails, representing one of 67 endangered species preserved here.
