Cooper Mountain, Mountain summit in Oregon, US

Cooper Mountain is a summit in Washington County, Oregon, reaching 764 feet (233 m) above sea level. It and the surrounding area are named for Perry Cooper, an Ohio immigrant who settled on the mountain. Several features nearby carry the name, including Cooper Mountain Nature Park, Cooper Mountain Vineyards and Cooper Mountain Elementary School outside Beaverton.

The mountain served Native American tribes for centuries as a strategic location for gathering food and observing the land. The present landscape reflects this long history of use by the people who lived in the region.

Cooper Mountain takes its name from Perry Cooper, an Ohio immigrant who settled on its slopes; the name was later given to Cooper Mountain Vineyards, Cooper Mountain Elementary School outside Beaverton, Cooper Mountain Presbyterian Church in Aloha and two cemeteries, Cooper Mountain Evangelical Cemetery and Cooper Mountain Cemetery. A Cooper Park in Aloha also carries the name.

Visitors can choose from marked trails of varying difficulty that lead to the summit and pass through different terrain types. A visitor center provides information and facilities to support your visit.

In spring the slopes transform into fields of native wildflowers that support local insects and wildlife. This seasonal display attracts researchers and photographers interested in documenting the area's botanical changes.
