The First Regiment Armory Annex features Romanesque Revival architecture with stone cladding, semi-circular arcades, turrets, and recessed arches across two floors.
Constructed in 1891 by Multnomah County, the building initially served the Oregon National Guard and received National Register of Historic Places status in 2000.
The structure houses Portland Center Stage, presenting classical and contemporary productions in two theaters, reaching 150,000 visitors each performance season.
Following a $36.1 million renovation completed in 2006, the building includes the U.S. Bank Main Stage, Ellyn Bye Studio, and facilities for theatrical performances.
The building incorporates environmental features such as rainwater catchment and displacement ventilation, earning Platinum LEED certification as a historic structure.
