Three Sisters Tavern, Strip club in downtown Portland, United States
Three Sisters Tavern was a two-story entertainment venue in downtown Portland that featured male performances and dance shows. The location on SW Stark Street established itself as a set nightlife destination in the city.
The venue opened in 1964 under the ownership of John P. Katchis and his wife Georgia with a different original purpose. It later transformed into a gay bar and strip club before closing permanently in 2004.
The performers presented elaborate shows with costumes and acrobatic elements that drew diverse crowds, including groups celebrating special occasions. The performances reflected the entertainment style that Portland cultivated during that era.
The venue sat centrally in Portland and was once easy to reach for nightlife visitors. The former building now houses a different establishment and is not open for public visits.
Musician Rufus Wainwright visited the venue with Thomas Lauderdale and documented its connection to Portland's artistic circles. The connection revealed how the entertainment venue was woven into the local art community.
