Barber Block, Commercial building in Southeast Portland, United States.
The Barber Block stands at 532 Southeast Grand Avenue with three stories of mixed Victorian architectural elements including Italianate and Queen Anne details.
Edward Holman commissioned this structure in 1890 for $25,000, naming it after his father-in-law Henry Barber, who operated a mortuary business.
The building represents the commercial growth of East Portland during the late 19th century, with its ground floor serving various businesses through generations.
Located at the intersection of Southeast Grand and Washington Streets, the building contains both retail spaces and residential apartments across its three floors.
Architect Thomas J. Jones incorporated simulated stone archways over the entries, reflecting the emerging Richardsonian Romanesque style of the 1890s.
