Lewis Army Museum, Military museum at Joint Base Lewis-McChord, Washington, US.
The Lewis Army Museum is housed in a former Salvation Army building and displays military uniforms, equipment, and combat vehicles across about 10,000 square feet of exhibition space. The site extends to an outdoor area covering several acres where additional vehicles and missiles are parked.
The building was constructed in 1918 as a shelter for soldiers and was acquired by the US military in 1921. It has served as a repository for documenting regional military history ever since.
The exhibits feature items from the everyday lives of soldiers from the region, including personal gear and uniforms from different eras. Visitors get a sense of how service members and their families lived through these tangible objects.
The museum is easily accessible from a major highway and operates Wednesday through Sunday. Clear signage helps visitors navigate the different areas of the grounds, including the outdoor sections with vehicles.
The grounds contain a large collection of missile systems and heavy vehicles, including rare models from different eras of weapons technology. These vehicles allow visitors to see how military technology evolved over decades.
