Central Valley Greenway, Urban trail in Vancouver, Canada.
The Central Valley Greenway is an extended recreational trail spanning about 25 kilometers through Vancouver, Burnaby, and New Westminster. The path consists of paved sections and separate cycling lanes that allow pedestrians and cyclists to travel safely and comfortably between the cities.
The trail was developed through joint efforts by multiple city governments and local organizations to create sustainable transportation infrastructure in the region. This collaboration between Vancouver, Burnaby, and New Westminster resulted in a continuous network that enables car-free mobility.
The trail links together different neighborhoods across three cities and serves as a daily route for residents commuting to work, school, and local centers. It has become an important social space where people from the region meet and conduct their everyday activities.
The route has numerous bike repair stations, rest areas, and changing facilities spaced throughout for user convenience. It also connects directly to the Millennium and Expo SkyTrain stations, making it easy to combine the trail with public transit.
While using the path, travelers pass through Burnaby Lake Regional Park where they can observe local wildlife without leaving the route. This nature experience in the middle of urban areas gives the trail a special quality where city and nature meet.
