Corkscrew, Steel roller coaster in Playland, Vancouver, Canada
Corkscrew is a steel roller coaster featuring two complete loop inversions that twist riders through its track layout. The ride was designed to carry two trains, each with six cars, for a total capacity of 24 riders per cycle.
This ride began as Screamer on Boblo Island in Ontario from 1985 until 1993, when it was relocated to the Vancouver amusement park. It operated under its new name at this location until the park closed its rides in 2018.
The roller coaster gained media attention through its appearances in Final Destination 3 and Diary of a Wimpy Kid: Dog Days movies.
The ride was accessed by walking through other sections of the amusement park to reach its location on the grounds. Checking the park's schedule in advance helps you plan your visit timing around when this attraction was available.
The ride incorporated a specialized track element called a Bayerncurve, which gave its layout a distinctive mechanical feature. This design detail made it a notable example of roller coaster engineering from that era.
