Central Waterfront, Urban neighborhood along Elliott Bay, Seattle, United States.
Central Waterfront is an urban neighborhood stretching from the port through Downtown Seattle and Belltown, linking city areas with Elliott Bay. It features converted historic piers alongside modern public spaces positioned directly along the water.
The area evolved from a maritime hub with container ports in the 1960s into a modern destination with restored piers by 2008. This shift transformed it from purely industrial to a mixed-use residential and recreation zone.
The waterfront honors indigenous heritage through the name Dzidzilalich along Alaskan Way and Elliott Way. This recognition connects visitors to the original peoples of the region as they move through the modern space.
The area is easily reached by ferry, bus stops, and parking, with multiple access points from downtown. The flat layout makes walking comfortable and easy to navigate.
A new linear park project spanning about 20 acres introduces bicycle trails, walking paths, and green spaces that filter stormwater before it flows into Elliott Bay. This project improves recreation while addressing environmental concerns in a practical way.
