Two large engagement rings made of steel stand vertically on Sunset Beach, reaching toward the sky against the backdrop of English Bay.
Dennis Oppenheim constructed this metal sculpture in 2005 as part of his exploration of human relationships through large-scale public installations.
The sculpture represents traditional marriage symbols transformed into monumental forms, inviting viewers to consider the social rituals of commitment.
The sculpture stands near the intersection of Beach Avenue and Bute Street, within walking distance from downtown Vancouver's shopping districts.
The rings incorporate LED lights that illuminate the structure during evening hours, creating reflections on the water surface of English Bay.
