Fairmont Pacific Rim, Postmodern skyscraper in Downtown Vancouver, Canada
The Fairmont Pacific Rim is a 44-story office tower rising 140 meters along Vancouver's waterfront with glass and concrete surfaces. The building houses both a hotel section and private residential units, each with its own separate entrance for independent access.
The tower opened in February 2010, arriving just as Vancouver prepared to host the Winter Olympics. Its completion marked the arrival of a fourth Fairmont property in the region and contributed to the evolution of the waterfront.
The exterior walls display art installations with text by Liam Gillick, merging architecture with contemporary artistic expression. These installations invite visitors to consider how buildings and art can speak to each other while walking through the surroundings.
The hotel occupies the lower levels with guest rooms, while residential units upstairs have their own separate entrance on Cordova Street. Visitors should note that the two sections operate independently with distinct access points.
Some residential units in this building set record prices during the 2007 pre-sale phase for the region. These high opening prices reflected the demand for premium waterfront living in Vancouver.
