Beth's Cafe, American diner in Green Lake, Seattle, US
Beth's Cafe is an American diner on Aurora Avenue North in Seattle, open around the clock and known for serving breakfast food and classic American dishes in very large portions. The space has counter seating and tables, with every surface of the walls covered in drawings left by past guests.
The site opened in 1954 as a gambling parlor and was later turned into a restaurant to keep its existing customers. After a temporary closure, it reopened in recent years and continued with the same diner format.
The walls inside are covered from floor to ceiling with drawings left by guests over the decades. Anyone can ask for paper and markers at the counter and add their own drawing before leaving.
The diner is easiest to reach by car, and there is parking nearby. Because it is open around the clock, the early morning hours or late at night tend to be less busy than weekend mornings.
The cafe offers an omelet made with a full dozen eggs, served with unlimited sides as part of a eating challenge. Those who finish it alone within an hour get their name added to a board on the wall.
