Ravenna Park, Urban park in University District, Seattle, US
The half-mile wooded ravine extends through 49.9 acres of land, connecting two picnic areas with trails meandering beneath tall Douglas Fir and Western Redcedar trees.
The park, purchased from developers in 1911, temporarily changed its name to Roosevelt Park in 1919 before residents requested to restore the original name in 1931.
The park functions as a central gathering point for Seattle residents, offering spaces for community events, sports activities, and environmental education programs.
Visitors can access multiple facilities including tennis courts, basketball areas, soccer fields, baseball diamonds, wading pools, picnic sites, and children's play zones.
The ravine reaches depths of 115 feet and contains a section of Ravenna Creek that was returned to daylight in 2006 after flowing through storm drains.
