Blaine Street Stairs

The Blaine Street Stairs consist of 293 concrete steps connecting different elevation points across Capitol Hill, with views of Lake Union along the route. These stairs run through the neighborhood, providing a direct passage between areas at various heights.

Built in 1911, these stairs are part of Seattle's network of over 650 public staircases designed to address the city's steep topography. This infrastructure was created to make the hilly terrain more accessible for people walking through the neighborhood.

The stairs run beside Streissguth Gardens, creating a natural passage that connects residential neighborhoods while serving as a popular training spot for locals. People use this route regularly to move through the community and get a workout at the same time.
