Flashback, Steel roller coaster at Six Flags Great America, United States.
Flashback is a steel roller coaster at Six Flags Great America in Illinois. It features a blue track with white supports and takes riders through five diving inversions across approximately 1,900 feet (580 meters) of track.
The coaster was built in 1985 by Swiss manufacturer Intamin and initially opened under the name Z-Force. It served as a prototype for the Space Diver model and introduced an innovative design concept to the amusement park.
The attraction marked a significant engineering milestone in the amusement industry as the first and only hairpin-drop roller coaster ever constructed.
The ride operates three separate trains with five cars each, accommodating twenty riders per circuit. Visitors should expect wait times during busy periods and prepare for rapid, intense movements.
The ride experience includes six head-over-heels rotations combined with a 540-degree upward spiral, all compressed into a tight footprint. This density of inversions in such a confined space makes the ride technically remarkable.
