Magic Flyer, Steel roller coaster in Six Flags Magic Mountain, Valencia, California, US
Magic Flyer is a wooden roller coaster at Six Flags Magic Mountain in Valencia, California, featuring an oval layout with gentle drops and two 180-degree turns. The ride operates at moderate speeds along a track spanning about 200 feet, with a single train that carries 12 passengers at a time.
Originally built in the 1940s as Little Dipper at Beverly Park in Los Angeles, the coaster relocated to Six Flags Magic Mountain in 1971 under the name Clown Coaster. The ride received a complete redesign in 2008 with trains styled after characters from the Thomas and Friends television series.
The ride has carried different names reflecting entertainment partnerships over the years, including Wile E. Coyote Coaster and Percy's Railway from Thomas and Friends. These name changes show how the park repeatedly updated its attractions to feature current characters and brands that appeal to families.
This attraction is designed for children under 54 inches (137 centimeters) tall and provides a gentler experience compared to most other coasters in the park. Visiting early in the morning or later in the afternoon typically means shorter wait times.
This is one of the oldest operational coasters and has traveled through several decades of amusement park history, beginning at a classic park and eventually finding its home at a major theme park destination. Its long journey makes it a special testament to how rides have evolved and how entertainment venues have transformed over time.
