Tatsu, Steel roller coaster at Six Flags Magic Mountain, California, US.
Tatsu is a flying roller coaster at Six Flags Magic Mountain in California covering roughly 3600 feet (1100 meters) of track length. The circuit passes through several inversions and climbs to around 170 feet (52 meters) above ground at its highest point.
The ride opened in May 2006 after construction began during mid-2005. At opening it set records as the tallest and fastest flying roller coaster worldwide.
The name translates to dragon from Japanese and the station area around the ride references this theme with graphic details along the entrance queue and platform. Riders position themselves horizontally along the track so the flying effect becomes part of the main experience people expect when choosing this ride among others.
A single-rider line was added in April 2022 which can reduce wait times considerably. Three trains run on the circuit with 32 seats each to increase overall capacity during busy periods.
The track features a pretzel loop inversion standing 124 feet (38 meters) tall that generates 4.5 G-forces during the maneuver. This inversion remains the tallest of its type on any flying roller coaster anywhere.
