Goliath, Steel hypercoaster in Valencia, United States
Goliath is a steel hypercoaster at Six Flags Magic Mountain near Valencia, featuring a series of banking turns and steep descents. The track runs for 1370 meters (4500 feet) and takes passengers to a height of 72 meters (235 feet) at speeds reaching 137 kilometers per hour (85 miles per hour).
The coaster opened on February 11, 2000, and was at that time the fastest full-circuit roller coaster in the world. Swiss manufacturer Giovanola built the ride, which remained one of the park's main draws for several years.
The boarding area and support columns feature motifs inspired by Maya architecture, with stylized carvings in stone and wood. This gives visitors a decorative connection to the building traditions of Central America before they board the ride.
The ride alternates between open sections and enclosed passages, bringing shifts in light and shadow. Those sensitive to rapid acceleration should consider whether they want to board.
Shortly after the initial drop, the track enters an underground tunnel that creates an abrupt shift from daylight. This passage brings a change in air pressure that many riders find surprising.
